Quinn Hughes Thrills Fans with OT Goal as USA Survives vs. Sweden in Men's Olympic Hockey Bracket

The United States men's hockey team is moving on to the Winter Olympics semifinals.

After a hard-fought battle with Sweden in the quarterfinal, Quinn Hughes played hero for the United States and scored the game-winning goal in overtime.

Fans celebrated the iconic moment for Team USA on social media afterwards.

Hughes, who was traded from the Vancouver Canucks to the Minnesota Wild in December, is playing in his first Winter Olympics, and it's fair to say he's already established himself as a legend for the United States.

The United States beat Latvia, Denmark and Germany to go undefeated in group play and will now face Slovakia in the semifinal after downing Sweden. On the other side of the bracket, top-seeded Canada will face Finland with a trip to the final on the line.

The United States finished fifth and seventh in the last two Winter Olympics, so it's already off to a better start in these games. Team USA is still looking for more, though, as it hasn't medaled since 2010 and hasn't won a gold medal since the Miracle on Ice team in 1980.

With loads of NHL talent on the roster, this year's squad certainly has what it takes to win it all.
