Team Italy celebrated a team men's speed skating win over the United States at the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics by imitating Team USA star Stephen Curry's signature celebration.

Italy's Andrea Giovannini hit what appeared to be Curry's "night night" celebration after his team finished 4.51 seconds ahead of the Americans to claim a gold medal Tuesday at the Milano Speed Skating Stadium.

Curry and other U.S. men's basketball team stars hit the same pose while celebrating their own gold medal win over France during the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Tuesday's win by Giovannini, Davide Ghiotto and Michele Malfatti marked the first time Italy has won a team men's speed skating medal since the 2006 Turin Olympics.

The Italian trio posted a time of 3:39.20 to win the event.

Team USA's Ethan Cepuran, Emery Lehman and Casey Dawson entered the event as gold medal favorites after setting a world record for the men's team event with a time of 3:32.49 during the ISU World Cup in November.

The trio headed into the race having won five straight World Cup season titles and riding a streak of wins in six consecutive races.

Cepuran, Lehman and Dawson ultimately earned silver with a time of 3:44.29 in Tuesday's final.

China's Liu Hanbin, Wu Yu and Li Wenhao narrowly beat out the Netherlands in the bronze medal final to claim the last spot on the podium.

The win helped Italy stay ahead of the United States in the Olympic medal race, with nine golds and 24 overall medals to Team USA's six golds and 20 medals as of Tuesday afternoon.

Italy also the speed skating gold medal race as of Tuesday with three golds, ahead of both the Netherlands and the United States with two gold medals each.

Both the Netherlands, who have by far dominated the overall medal count in the history of Olympic speed skating, and the United States, who have two gold medals thanks to 21-year-old phenom Jordan Stolz, will look to get back on the podium when the men's 1500m long track final takes place Thursday.
