Mikaela Shiffrin's last shot at a 2026 Winter Olympics medal comes in the women's slalom.
Shiffrin is the 2014 gold medalist in slalom, which has been her most successful event on the FIS World Cup circuit.
The 30-year-old American is the favorite in the event, but the Milan Cortina Games have produced a mixed bag of results for American favorites.

Mikaela Shiffrin's been the dominant force in women's slalom all season on the FIS World Cup circuit.
The American is close to 300 points ahead of her closest competition in the slalom World Cup standings.
Slalom has always been Shiffrin's event, which is why there's heavy expectations on her shoulders to capture the gold medal.
However, Shiffrin only appeared on a slalom medal podium once in her Olympic career and that was when she won gold back in Sochi in 2014.
While everything is pointing toward a Shiffrin win, she has let go of some chances to win in previous Olympics.
Switzerland's Camille Rast and Wendy Holdener are second and third to Shiffrin in the FIS World Cup slalom standings.
They are viewed as Shiffrin's closest competition along with Germany's Emma Aicher.
Paula Moltzan, who has one second-place finish in slalom on the World Cup circuit this season, is the other American medal contender in the event.
