Former NFL offensive lineman Tre' Johnson died Sunday at the age of 54, his wife announced.

"It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that my husband, Tre' Johnson, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly … during a brief family trip," Irene Johnson wrote in a Facebook post, per the Associated Press. "His four children, Chloe, EJ, EZ and Eden, extended family, friends, and I are devastated and in shock."

A standout guard, Johnson starred at Temple before being drafted by the Washington franchise with the 31st overall pick in the 1994 NFL draft. He remained with the team through 2000, earning his lone career Pro Bowl selection and second-team All-Pro honors in 1999.
