Olympic Hockey Bracket 2026 Women's Semis TV Schedule, Live Stream and Odds

Joe TanseyFeb 16, 2026

The United States and Canada are one win each away from their seventh meeting in the women's hockey gold-medal game.

Team USA and Canada have been the two dominant powers in the sport since women's hockey was introduced at the 1998 Winter Olympics.

That hasn't changed at the Milan Cortina Games, as both sides have overpowered their opponents.

Preview

It would be a huge surprise to not see a USA-Canada final.

The Americans routed every opponent they've faced in Milan, including Canada in the group stage.

Team USA scored at least five goals in every game and won each contest by at least four goals. It is coming off a 6-0 quarterfinal thumping over Italy.

Hilary Knight and Alex Carpenter are the primary scorers on the American team, but plenty of others have stepped up over the course of five games.

Caroline Harvey leads the tournament in points with nine, Laila Edwards and Megan Keller have six points each and Hannah Bilka has been fantastic in front of the net.

A win over Sweden is expected. It's just a matter of how many goals the Americans win by.

The same can be said about Canada versus Switzerland.

Canada reeled off a 5-1 quarterfinal win over Germany to keep with its blowout trend. All of its victories in Milan have come by at least four goals. The only hiccup so far was the 5-0 defeat to the USA in which Canada didn't have Poulin on the ice.

Poulin returned in the quarterfinal round and scored a late goal on the power play. If she is back to her normal form, Canada will look unstoppable against the Swiss.

Sarah Fillier, who has three goals and three assists, has arguably been Canada's best player at the Milan Cortina Games.

Like the USA, Canada's received contributions from all parts of its lineup, which makes the potential gold-medal game so fascinating to break down.

Switzerland's only chance of hanging with Canada is through a superb performance in net from Andrea Brandli.

Brandli shut out Finland in the quarterfinals with a 40-save showing. Another massive game in net would at least give the Swiss a shot of pulling off an upset.

However, a USA-Canada final matchup seems inevitable with the way both offenses are playing at the moment.
