Joe TanseyFeb 15, 2026

The slalom is the last medal event for the top male alpine skiers in the world.

A handful of athletes who have already medaled at the 2026 Winter Olympics will duel with those trying to avoid an empty-handed Games on Monday.

Norway's Atle Lie McGrath is the current leader in the FIS World Cup standings, but he'll face tough competition from giant slalom gold medalist Lucas Pinheiro Braathen of Brazil.

Atle Lie McGrath and Lucas Pinheiro Braathen are the primary names to watch in the men's slalom.

McGrath is the leader in the World Cup standings, but Pinheiro Braathen is close behind, and on top of that, he's skiing with more confidence after his triumph in the giant slalom.

McGrath has more wins on the World Cup circuit this season than his Brazilian counterpart.

Most of the attention will be on those two athletes, but there are a handful of notable medal contenders elsewhere in the field.

Norway's Henrik Kristoffersen won the most-recent World Cup event in Austria. He sits fifth in the World Cup standings.

Switzerland's Loic Meillard is one of the better all-around male skiers. He's already a medalist at the Milan Cortina Games.

France's Clement Noel and Austria's Manuel Feller will also be in the medal conversation. They both have victories this season and are high up in the World Cup standings.
