New MLB Trade Rumors on Rays' Garrett Cleavinger and Predicting Top Landing Spots

Zach BacharFeb 14, 2026

Tampa Bay Rays relief pitcher Garrett Cleavinger is drawing interest on the trade market, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

Per Rosenthal, the interest in Cleavinger "might stem in part from the lack of quality options among the remaining free-agent left-handed relievers."

The 31-year-old will earn $2.4 million for the 2026 season and is under team control for one more year.

Cleavinger appeared in 67 games with the Rays in 2025, posting a 2.35 ERA. He also racked up 82 strikeouts compared to 18 walks in 61.1 innings of work.

Opposing batters hit just .184 against Cleavinger as well.

His track record should make him particularly enticing for opposing front offices, as he owns a 3.19 career ERA to go along with an average of 11.4 strikeouts per nine innings.

The New York Yankees could be a potential suitor, as The Athletic's Chris Kirschner reported that the Yankees have previously held interest in Cleavinger on Dec. 22.

Another possible option is the Baltimore Orioles, especially after the Orioles ranked No. 25 among all teams with a 4.57 bullpen ERA in 2025.

The Toronto Blue Jays could also use another left-handed reliever, as Brendon Little and Eric Lauer are currently the only lefties in Toronto's bullpen.

While the Rays' 2026 regular season begins on March 26, they might not be done making moves just yet.
