Chloe Kim Talks Support from Boyfriend Myles Garrett amid Winter Olympics Silver Medal

Team USA snowboarder Chloe Kim says it's been "really special" to have her boyfriend, Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett, in Italy during her run to a silver medal in the women's snowboard halfpipe final.

"He's truly my best friend, and he's such an amazing addition to my support system," Kim said in a Friday appearance on the TODAY Show. "It's really special, because I feel like he gets it. He gets what it's like to be in this position. He gets what it's like to be an athlete. He understands the pressure, and all of that. He's been an amazing person, and he's my rock."

Garrett was present at Livigno Snow Park in Livigno, Italy to watch Kim claim her third career Olympic medal on Thursday.

Kim landed a double-cork 1080, a trick that involves two flips and a spin, on her first run of the halfpipe final to earn a score of 88.0.

That gave her the lead until she was edged out for the gold medal by Choi Gaon, a 17-year-old from the Republic of Korea.

Kim has been snowboarding injured since suffering a dislocated shoulder resulting in a labrum tear in January.

She said earlier in the competition that she was competing with a stabilizing brace, and that she expected to need surgery after the competition.

"I can't believe I made it. It wasn't looking too good for me," Kim said on the TODAY Show. "I think just being able to get here and do what I needed to do was really special."

Kim has previously won two gold medals in the Olympic women's halfpipe, including at the 2018 PyeongChang Games and the 2022 Beijing Olympics.

The 25-year-old has not yet confirmed if she plans to return for a fourth Olympics when the next Winter Games take place in the French Alps in 2030.
