WWE Rumors on Brock Lesnar, Oba Femi, Jade Cargill, Charlotte, Tiffany Stratton and Bron Breakker
Bleacher Report catches you up on the latest news from the WWE Universe.
Lesnar vs. Femi Reportedly Considered for WrestleMania 42
A clash between one of WWE's fastest-rising stars and one of the most-decorated performers in WWE history is reportedly being considered for WrestleMania 42.
According to BodySlam.net (h/t Subhojeet Mukherjee of Ringside News), Oba Femi vs. Brock Lesnar is "on the table" for WrestleMania in Las Vegas, although it isn't yet a sure thing.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t WrestlePurists) noted that WWE is likely to tease Lesnar's direction for WrestleMania when he appears on the Feb. 23 episode of Raw in Atlanta.
Per Meltzer, Lesnar vs. LA Knight was included in the WrestleMania lineup as of late January, but it wasn't yet finalized.
In the men's Royal Rumble match last month, Lesnar and Femi had a confrontation, much to the delight of the fans. Lesnar also eliminated Oba from the match.
A short time later, Lesnar was eliminated by both Knight and Cody Rhodes, meaning the groundwork is laid for The Beast Incarnate to potentially face either Femi or Knight on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
Femi is viewed as a future main eventer and world champion, while Knight is a massive fan favorite, so the viewing audience could likely get behind either of them as Brock's opponent.
In terms of match quality and overall spectacle, Femi vs. Lesnar feels like the better option, especially if the creative team is willing to give The Ruler a signature win over Lesnar under the WrestleMania spotlight.
Regardless, Lesnar figures to have a major role at his first WrestleMania in three years.
WWE Reportedly Weighing Options for Cargill's WrestleMania Opponent
WWE reportedly has yet to decide on who Jade Cargill will defend the WWE Women's Championship against at WrestleMania 42.
According to Wrestle Votes Radio on Fightful Select (h/t Mukherjee), WWE has discussed "many possibilities" for Cargill with Charlotte Flair and Tiffany Stratton being pitched as two of the biggest options.
With women's Royal Rumble winner Liv Morgan seemingly trending toward challenging Stephanie Vaquer for the Women's World Championship at WrestleMania, that means the winner of the women's Elimination Chamber match will face Cargill.
Thus far, Stratton and Rhea Ripley have qualified for the women's Elimination Chamber match, and there are four spots remaining.
Jade beat Stratton for the WWE Women's Championship in November, and she hasn't had a televised title defense since then.
Cargill is currently embroiled in a rivalry with Jordynne Grace, but is is widely expected that Jade will prevail and carry the title into WrestleMania.
Stratton would be a logical choice to challenge Cargill since they have history, and it would be a rematch for Tiffany after losing the title to Jade.
Flair would be a bit more unexpected given that she is currently in a tag team with Alexa Bliss, but she undoubtedly has a résumé fitting of a women's title challenger.
Charlotte's 14 women's title reigns are the most in WWE history, and she is something of a dream opponent for Cargill.
Given her experience, Flair would be an excellent dance partner for Jade in what promises to be the biggest match of her career thus far.
Breakker Reportedly Not Expected Back By WrestleMania
Bron Breakker was widely anticipated to be a big part of the WrestleMania 42 card, but he reportedly may not be available for the Showcase of the Immortals.
According to Meltzer (h/t Wrestle Features), Breakker is not expected to be cleared to compete in time for WrestleMania.
PWInsider.com (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News) reported this week that Breakker suffered a hernia after flipping the announce table during the Feb. 2 episode of Raw.
It was later reported by PWInsider.com (h/t Carrier) that the hernia was an existing issue for Breakker even before that spot.
After WWE announced that Breakker would be out indefinitely, there were conflicting reports regarding the timeline for his return.
Meltzer (h/t Wrestle Ops) reported that Breakker could be out for between three and six months, while Fightful Select (h/t Carrier) reported that people within WWE were "optimistic" Breakker would be back in time for WrestleMania.
At Royal Rumble, Breakker was attacked by a masked assailant who hit him with Seth Rollins' signature Stomp.
While Rollins has been out since October with a shoulder injury, a common theory is that WWE was setting up Rollins vs. Breakker at WrestleMania since Breakker put Rollins on the shelf from a storyline perspective by attacking him.
However, if Breakker is not back in time for WrestleMania 42, it is fair to wonder if WWE will hold Rollins off the card as well.
