Mikaela Shiffrin Reveals Why She Has 'Half an Eyebrow' After Trending Photos, Videos
Misguided attempts at self-styling are pretty common, and being an Olympic athlete doesn't spare you from the embarrassment.
American skier Mikaela Shiffrin shared a video on Instagram explaining why she was left with "half an eyebrow."
The two-time gold medalist said she has a scar on her left eyebrow dating back to a fall in training years ago. Because of that, the hair in that area comes in "a little bit funky." She compared it to a Truffula Tree from The Lorax.
Shiffrin decided to shave the hair in that spot altogether and have a fashionable slash in her eyebrow. However, she said she "went a little bit too far" and trimmed off more than she intended.
The 30-year-old uses makeup to cover the mishap but said she sweats when she skis. As a result, the camera might zoom in on her after a run and unfortunately show off her eyebrow to the world.
Shiffrin and Breezy Johnson combined to finish a disappointing fourth in the women's team combined event, with Shiffrin placing 15th in the slalom to doom their medal bid.
The World Cup record-holder will have an opportunity to rebound in Sunday's individual giant slalom event, with the slalom to follow Wednesday.
