The women's snowboard cross should be one of the more wide-open competitions we see across all of the snowboarding disciplines at the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Great Britain's Charlotte Bankes is the favorite and the current FIS World Cup leader, but there are a handful of other European athletes with strong cases for gold.

Two-time snowboard cross medalist Chloe Trespeuch of France and Italy's Michela Moioli, the 2018 gold medalist, are among the top athletes to watch for the medal podium.

Charlotte Bankes should be viewed as the event favorite because of her form on the World Cup circuit this season.

She has one win and a third-place finish in snowboard cross this season, but what she lacks compared to others in the field is an Olympic medal. Bankes did win the World Cup race at Cortina d'Ampezzo last season.

Chloe Trespeuch is looking for a gold to complete her snowboard cross collection of medals. She won bronze in 2014 and silver in 2022.

Trespeuch owns a pair of podium finishes on the World Cup circuit this season and few athletes in the field carry as much experience as she does.

Michela Moioli was always going to be an athlete to watch, but she could be even more of a threat for gold on home snow.

Italy's had a handful of incredible moments across the Olympics so far and Moioli could ride the support of the home crowd to the medal stand.

France's Lea Casta and Julia Nirani-Pereira are the the two other Europeans to watch in the event. They both have a World Cup win this season and Casta went head-to-head with Bankes for most of the 2024-25 World Cup season.

Australia's Josie Baff is the top non-European that should challenge for a medal. Team USA isn't expected to place anyone on the medal podium.
