Team USA Reportedly Considering Corbin Carroll Injury Replacements for WBC, Top Candidates Revealed

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll suffered a broken hamate bone in his right hand and will miss the World Baseball Classic, per ESPN's Jeff Passan.

After that unfortunate news, Team USA is considering numerous names to replace Carroll on the roster, per Jon Morosi of MLB Network.

It's a tough loss for Team USA, especially after the 25-year-old Carroll, the four-season MLB veteran, enjoyed a career-best year that resulted in his second All-Star Game appearance, his first Silver Slugger award and a sixth-place finish in the NL MVP voting.

For the season, Carroll hit .259 (.883 OPS) with 31 home runs and 84 RBI. He led MLB in triples for the second straight year, amassing 17 in 2025. His 140 OPS+ was a career-best figure.

This year's WBC runs from March 5-17. The United States is in Pool B with Mexico, Italy, Great Britain and Brazil. The top two teams that emerge from round-robin play advance to the eight-team knockout round.

The current Team USA roster now has three outfielders in reigning American League MVP Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees, Pete Crow-Armstrong of the Chicago Cubs and Byron Buxton of the Minnesota Twins.

Team USA certainly has some good choices to add to the roster. Of them, Miami Marlins outfielder Kyle Stowers notably just broke out with 25 home runs in 112 games while posting a .912 OPS and 149 OPS+. James Wood of the Washington Nationals just hit 31 home runs in his age-22 season.

Steven Kwan of the Cleveland Guardians is a fantastic fielder who has won a Gold Glove in all four of his MLB seasons. The Athletics' Tyler Soderstrom is also a young player on the rise with 25 homers and 93 RBI last year in his age-23 season. The Boston Red Sox's Roman Anthony is one of the game's best prospects, and he showcased his talents in 71 games with an .859 OPS (a left oblique strain unfortunately cut his season short).

Riley Greene helped the Detroit Tigers advance to the American League Division Series with 36 homers and 111 RBI. Wyatt Langford is a former star prospect who had 22 homers, 62 RBI and a 127 OPS+ last year, his second season in the bigs.

Ultimately, Team USA certainly has options, though Carroll is still a tough loss.
