Lindsey Vonn announced that she underwent a successful third surgery on her broken leg suffered during the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics.

Vonn posted a photo from the hospital on Instagram and stated in the caption, "I'm making progress and while it is slow, I know I'll be ok."

Per TMZ, Vonn was seen wearing "what appears to be an external fixator device on her right leg." She also posted a photo of her talking to the medical staff, and another of the flowers she's received during her hospital stay.

Vonn's return to the Olympics was cut short in devastating fashion when she crashed just 13 seconds into her run during Sunday's downhill race. She had to be airlifted off the course by helicopter, and she announced on Monday that she suffered a "complex tibia fracture that is currently stable but will require multiple surgeries to fix properly," per the Associated Press.

TMZ noted that it's "unclear if [Vonn is] done with the operations or will need to undergo further surgery." Despite her bleak outlook, the 41-year-old included a message of gratitude and well-wishes for her fellow Team USA competitors.

"Thankful for all of the incredible medical staff, friends, family, who have been by my side and the beautiful outpouring of love and support from people around the world," she wrote. "Also, huge congrats to my teammates and all of the Team USA athletes who are out there inspiring me and giving me something to cheer for."
