They earned silver after performing the free dance to "Paint it Black," a song by Ramin Djawadi featured in the television show Westworld.

Beaudry and Cizeron closed out the competition and won gold by skating to the soundtrack from the 2022 film The Whale.

Here's a look at the final standings and points scores after Wednesday's free dance.

  1. Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron, France: 225.82
  2. Madison Chock and Evan Bates, United States: 224.39
  3. Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier, Canada: 217.74
  4. Charlene Guignard and Marco Fabbri, Italy: 209.58
  5. Emilea Zingas and Vadym Kolesnik, United States: 206.72

Canada's Piper Gilles and Paul Poirie made it to the podium for their program set to Govardo's cover of Don McLean's song "Vincent."

Their performance was enough to vault them into first place with two performances left, guaranteeing the pair their first Olympic medal.

Two other teams from the United States competed in Wednesday's free dance. Christina Carreira and Anthony Ponomarenko, skating to the score from the 2006 film Perfume: The Story of a Murderer, finished in 10th place with 197.62 points.

Emilea Zingas and Vadym Kolesnik finished in fifth place with 206.72 points after skating to the ballet Romeo and Juliet, op. 64.

This marks the first individual Olympic medal for Chock and Bates, who are competing in their ninth Olympics. The pair has also won team figure skating gold both at the 2022 Beijing Olympics and during the 2026 Games in Milan.
