Vincent Trocheck Reportedly Traded to Mammoth After 4 Seasons with Rangers, Full Details Revealed

The New York Rangers are parting ways with their second-line center ahead of the trade deadline.

The Rangers traded Vincent Trocheck to the Utah Mammoth on Wednesday, according to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman. New York will receive Sean Durzi, Cole Beaudoin and a third-round pick in the deal, Friedman added.

Trocheck, 32, had a 12-team no-trade list. He is signed for three more seasons at a $5.625 million AAV.

He has limited trade protections over the remainder of his contract, which is set to expire ahead of his age-36 season in 2029-30.

Trocheck had been one of the Rangers' most productive players in what was a difficult 2025-26 season for New York. Despite missing time with an upper-body injury, he still amassed 53 points (16 goals, 37 assists) in 67 games last season.

The move comes after Rangers general manager Chris Drury wrote in a Jan. 16 letter to fans that an upcoming roster retool "may mean saying goodbye to players that have brought us and our fans great moments over the years."

Drury followed up that letter by trading Artemi Panarin to the Los Angeles Kings on Feb. 5.

Both Panarin, who signed with the Rangers in 2019, and Trocheck, who joined the team as a free agent three years later, were part of the core that led their team to Eastern Conference Finals appearances in 2022 and 2024.

The Rangers fell two wins short of a trip to the Stanley Cup Final both times, losing in six games to the Tampa Bay Lightning two years before a six-game series loss to the Florida Panthers.

The franchise has since taken a step back. Despite multiple major roster moves over the last two years, including trading former captain Jacob Trouba and bringing in J.T. Miller and head coach Mike Sullivan, the Rangers missed the playoffs for a second straight season.

The Rangers will now hope the returns from the Panarin and Trocheck trades is enough to jumpstart a rebuild around star netminder Igor Shesterkin.

Trocheck, originally a third-round pick by the Panthers in the 2011 draft, played parts of seven seasons in Florida and parts of three seasons with the Carolina Hurricanes before he signed with the Rangers.

He is coming out of four consecutive 20-goal seasons, a span which included the first All-Star nod of his career when he recorded a career-high 77 points for the Rangers in 2023-24.

Utah will now hope adding a perennial 20-goal scorer to their center depth chart can help them put together a playoff run next season after losing to the Vegas Golden Knights in the first round of the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
