Olympic Hockey 2026 Bracket for USA, Canada and Each Team After Women's Group Stage
The United States delivered one of its most comprehensive victories ever in its women's hockey rivalry with Canada on Tuesday.
Team USA beat Canada 5-0 in its final group-stage game of the 2026 Winter Olympics.
The Americans were on top in the game from the start and didn't show any signs of letting up over 60 minutes.
Canada did play without its top star, Marie-Philip Poulin, but it still had plenty of quality on the ice to compete with the Americans.
Tuesday's win means the United States will be the top seed in the knockout round and it will face Italy in the quarterfinals.
Canada, who still has one group-stage game left, will likely be the No. 2 seed and face Germany in the final eight.
Women's Group A
1 of 2
1 United States (4-0; 12 points)
2. Canada (2-1; 6 points)
3. Czechia (1-3; 4 points)
4. Finland (1-2; 3 points)
5. Switzerland (1-3; 2 points)
Tuesday's Results
United States 5, Canada 0
Finland 3, Switzerland 1
The United States delivered a rare thumping in its matchup with Canada.
Team USA scored five goals and shut out the vaunted Canada attack, which can be a huge threat in front of goal even without Marie-Philip Poulin.
Caroline Harvey and Hannah Bilka opened the scoring in the first period.
The American lead ballooned to four goals through second-period goals from Kirsten Simms and Bilka.
Laila Edwards added to the American tally with a third-period goal.
Tuesday's 5-0 win by the Americans marked the largest margin of victory in an Olympic game between the two North American rivals.
The United States and Canada will be on opposite ends of the knockout-round bracket, so the expectation is for them to meet again in the gold-medal game.
Canada finishes its Group A slate on Thursday against Finland. Finland beat Switzerland on Tuesday to move into fourth in the group standings.
Women's Group B
2 of 2
1 Sweden (4-0; 12 points)
2. Germany (3-1; 8 points)
3. Italy (2-2; 6 points)
4. Japan (1-3; 3 points)
5. France (0-4; 1 point)
Tuesday's Results
Sweden 4, Japan 0
Germany 2, Italy 1
Sweden, Germany and Italy will all go through to the knockout stage from Group B.
Sweden topped the group with a commanding 4-0 win over Japan, while Germany took second in Group B with a 2-1 victory over Italy.
Sweden finished the group stage with a +16 goal differential. It is a clear threat to whichever team it draws in the quarterfinals.
Germany and Italy will both be significant underdog against Canada and the United States. A knockout-round win by either team would be one of the biggest surprises in Olympic hockey history.
