Walker spent the first four years of his career with the Seattle Seahawks, helping the team win its second Super Bowl title last season.

A second-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft, Walker was one of the most coveted players on the open market this year. He started all 17 games for the Seahawks in 2025 and rushed for 1,027 yards and five touchdowns on 221 carries. He split the workload with rookie running back Zack Charbonnet, who notched 184 carries for 730 yards and a team-high 12 touchdowns.

In the postseason, Walker totaled 65 carries for 313 yards and four scores, including 27 carries for 135 yards in a 29-13 win over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX.

Walker started his NFL career in a big way when he ran for 1,050 yards and nine touchdowns as a rookie, but he fell short of the 1,000-yard mark in each of the next two years. He was limited to 11 games in 2024 while dealing with multiple ailments, and he ended that year on injured reserve following an ankle issue.

However, Walker proved during the 2025 season that he can be a reliable lead back, and he will be bringing his talents to a Chiefs squad that went 6-11 and missed the playoffs last year.

The running game has long been a weak point for the team offensively. Kareem Hunt in 2017 is the last 1,000-yard rusher.

With Mahomes recovering from a torn ACL, improving the ground attack and easing the pressure on the star quarterback was imperative.

Kansas City won one of the biggest prizes of the offseason by landing Walker, and he undoubtedly will be ready to help lead the team to new heights in 2026.
