Mikaela Shiffrin Fails to Medal with USA, Results for Women's Olympic Alpine Skiing Team Combined
United States duo Jackie Wiles and Paula Moltzan finished ahead of compatriots Mikaela Shiffrin and Breezy Johnson to take bronze in the women's alpine skiing combined downhill and slalom event on Tuesday.
Massive favorites Shiffrin and Johnson failed to medal after Shiffrin put up the 15th fastest time in the slalom event after Johnson had finished fastest in downhill. Shiffrin has not won a gold medal since winning gold in the giant slalom event in 2018 in South Korea.

The stunning result meant Austria's Ariane Raedler and Katharina Huber took gold with a combined time of 2:21.66, just 0.05 seconds ahead of Germany's Kira Weidle-Winkelmann & Emma Aichner in silver.
Women's Combined Downhill, Slalom Winners:
-Gold: Ariane Raedler & Katharina Huber (Austria) - 2:21.66
-Silver: Kira Weidle-Winkelmann & Emma Aichner (Germany) - 2:21.71
-Bronze: Jackie Wiles & Paula Motlzan (USA) - 2:21.91
Johnson had put the American duo in a dominant position earlier in the day, finishing first in the downhill event ahead of Raedler and Italy's Laura Pirovano.
Few would have expected Shiffrin to come up so short, but in truth, she lost the advantage at the top of the run and couldn't claw it back after the Austrians applied tremendous pressure.

Wiles and Moltzan both finished fourth fastest in their individual events, making it onto the podium at just 0.06 seconds ahead of their Team USA colleagues.
Further down for the United States, Keely Cashman and AJ Hurt ended in 15th place overall, with Hurt putting up a great effort to land the eighth fastest time in the slalom.
Isabella Wright and Nina O'Brien were one of 10 teams unable to finish after Wright lost her line in the downhill event.
