Olympic Figure Skating Schedule 2026 Men's Short Program USA TV, Live Stream Info
Ilia Malinin's quest for individual gold begins on Tuesday.
The 21-year-old American has been the best male figure skater in the world throughout this Olympic cycle. Now he gets the chance to cap it off with a gold at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
Malinin might have some extra motivation going into the short program. He finished second in the short program portion of the team event last week.

Preview
Ilia Malinin is the dominant force in men's figure skating.
The Virginia native won the last two World Championships titles and he's won four consecutive American titles.
All that's left for Malinin to win is the individual Olympic gold medal. He already won gold at the Milan Cortina Games in the team event.
Malinin had a bit of a disappointing short program in the team event, as he took second behind Japan's Yuma Kagiyama.
Kagiyama got the best of Malinin by 10 points in the team event. Malinin might have saved his best short program routine for the individual competition, and if that's the case, he could easily beat Kagiyama.
The shortcomings of the short program in the team event at least provide some drama to Tuesday's skate that might have been there a week ago.
Kagiyama just needs to do the same thing he did in the team event. That routine will score well enough to at least challenge Malinin for the top spot.
Malinin and Kagiyama are viewed as the only realistic gold medal winners. Japan's Shun Sato is the favorite to capture the bronze medal.
Tuesday's short program is only the first part of the men's singles event. The free skate takes place on Friday afternoon.
The skater with the best combined score from the two skates walks away with the gold medal.
