NFL Draft 2026 Scouting Report for Maryland OT Alan Herron
Alan Herron has well-distributed thickness throughout his frame and delivers solid power on contact, particularly on down blocks and as a drive-man on double-teams. However, tardy, disjointed footwork and late hand timing sap his ability to sustain and consistently protect the corner.
In the NFL, Herron projects him as a career backup whose value is rooted in interior power and situational usage rather than consistent edge protection.
Herron is a 6'5", 308-pound offensive line prospect who enrolled at Division II Shorter University as an unranked recruit in the 2022 class before transferring to Maryland in 2024. He started 24 games at right tackle during his two years at Maryland.
Herron earned the team's George C. Cook Memorial Award (senior with highest GPA) in 2025 before capping off his collegiate career by participating in the Senior Bowl.

Where He Wins
1 of 4
— Solid initial quicks and power to displace, cover up and wall off defenders on down blocks, angle-drives and as the drive man on double-teams.
— Active, firm inside hand in pass protection helps minimize clean losses across his face.
— Effective snatch-trap technique to win leverage against leaning power rushers.
— Showed flashes of being able to widen the corner against high-side moves during Senior Bowl practice sessions.
Areas of Improvement
2 of 4
— Struggles to expand his set points and consistently protect the corner against high-side rushes.
— Susceptible to long-arm sequences, with persistent chest exposure leading to an unreliable anchor.
— Inconsistent footwork during the drive phase of run blocks leads to rolling onto his toes, sapping his power and control late in the rep.
