NFL Exec Says Seahawks' Schneider Tops Eagles' Roseman for Best GM After Super Bowl Win

Doric SamFeb 9, 2026

Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider entered a new echelon after the team won its second championship title by defeating the New England Patriots 29-13 in Super Bowl LX on Sunday.

Schneider has constructed two Super Bowl teams in Seattle with over a decade between his title wins. The Athletic's Mike Sando spoke to a veteran NFL executive who said they feel that this year's Super Bowl title puts Schneider ahead of Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman as the best GM in the league right now.

"The fact that John has built two Super Bowl teams that were totally different, he ought to go to the top of the list," the exec said. "That is incredible."

Sando declared that "plenty of good GMs don't push the limits like Roseman and Schneider." He compared Roseman's situation in Philadelphia to what Schneider faced a few years ago when Seattle opted to part ways with longtime quarterback Russell Wilson.

"In some ways, the Eagles' GM is where Schneider found himself five years ago: trying to maximize an expensive quarterback, Jalen Hurts, who has delivered at a high level and won a championship but also carries limitations that could become problematic as the roster cycles out of its peak state," Sando stated. "Schneider acted from a position of leverage with Wilson, turning certainty into optionality. Roseman did that famously when he traded Carson Wentz to Indianapolis, then won a Super Bowl with Hurts. It's how the modern GM must operate."

Now, Schneider has etched his name in history. Sando noted that his "status as the only GM to win two Super Bowls with a different coach and no carryover players could land him in Canton" alongside Hall of Fame GMs Bobby Beathard, George Young, Bill Polian, Ron Wolf and Ozzie Newsome.

Schneider will not have much time to revel in Seattle's latest Super Bowl win, as he will have to quickly turn the page to helping the Seahawks prepare to defend their title next season.
