Jake Paul's Fiancee Jutta Leerdam Makes History, Final Scores, Highlights from Winter Olympics 1000m

Dutch speed skater Jutta Leerdam, the fiancée of boxer and influencer Jake Paul, set a Winter Olympics record as she captured gold in the 1,000 meters in the Milano Cortina Games.

Leerdam crossed the finish line in 1:12.31, besting the mark teammate Femke Kok set earlier in the event (1:12.59).

Japan's Miho Takagi bumped Team USA's Brittany Bowe off the podium at the end to earn bronze.

Leerdam's gold is the Netherlands' first of the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Hours before the event, Paul posted a motivational message on social media, and he was on hand to watch the action live.

He witnessed quite the spectacle, and Leerdam completed an impressive comeback after her Olympic dreams were almost in tatters before the Winter Games got underway.

A silver medalist in the 1,000 meters in 2022, she nearly missed out on an opportunity to compete in her specialty race. A fall in the national trials put her on the bubble, with the Dutch selection committee ultimately deciding to pick her for Milano Cortina.

Their faith was repaid in spades.

Leerdam was in the last race of the day and paired against Takagi. That gave both skaters full knowledge of what it would take to get onto the podium and potentially earn gold.

Granted, following Kok may not have been much of an advantage given the bar she set.

At the first split, Leerdam was 0.21 seconds off Kok's pace. Through 600 meters, she was 0.19 seconds ahead of her compatriot, however, after having hit a top speed of 34.4 mph.

Whether Leerdam could maintain her blistering run was the big question. She slowed up a bit but not enough to fall into second place.

The enormity of the moment quickly set in as Leerdam became emotional upon seeing her time and realizing she won.

With Monday's event concluded, she will turn her focus toward the 500 meters on Sunday. She has historically performed worse in this race, but a silver-medal showing at the 2025 World Speed Skating Championships could point toward an improvement over her fifth-place finish at the Beijing Winter Games.
