Sam Darnold's Contract Incentives Revealed After Seahawks Win NFL Super Bowl 60

Zach BacharFeb 8, 2026

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold had an additional reason to celebrate the team's 29-13 win over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX on Sunday.

After already securing $3 million in contract incentives this season due to passing production and playoff wins, Darnold added another $1 million onto his total with the Super Bowl triumph (h/t Michael Ginnitti of Spotrac).

He previously signed a three-year, $100.5 million contract to join Seattle as a free agent in March 2025.

Darnold finished 19-of-38 for 202 yards and one touchdown without getting picked off during the Seahawks' victory on Sunday.

"It's unbelievable. Just everything that's happened in my career," Darnold said after the game, per ESPN's Dan Graziano. "But to do it with this team, I wouldn't want it any other way."

"I can't say enough about our defense and special teams," he added.

The 28-year-old was initially selected by the New York Jets with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft.

Darnold failed to exceed expectations in New York before he was traded to the Carolina Panthers, spending two years with the Panthers until he served as a backup on the San Francisco 49ers in 2023.

He eventually earned a starting job on the Minnesota Vikings ahead of his 2024 campaign and excelled, although he dealt with inconsistency during the Vikings' eventual defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Rams in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.

In 2025, Darnold completed a career-high 67.7 percent of his passes for 4,048 yards and 25 touchdowns to go along with 14 interceptions.

He was efficient throughout Seattle's playoff run, throwing for 470 yards and four touchdowns while averaging 8.9 yards per attempt through his first three postseason contests. Darnold also completed 69.8 percent of his throws over that span.

Now, he's a Super Bowl champion.
