Leading 3-0, the Seahawks got the ball back on their own 24-yard line with 14:10 left in the second quarter after a three-and-out.

Darnold saw Shaheed downfield, and it looked like the Seahawks were about to orchestrate an explosive play of over 50 yards to set the team up around the New England 20-yard line. However, Gonzalez made a huge play to prevent the big gain.

Analysts and fans praised Gonzalez for his efforts.

Seattle did end up driving down the field, and kicker Jacob Myers ended the drive with a 39-yard field goal to give the Seahawks a 6-0 edge.

Gonzalez later had another crucial pass breakup, preventing a touchdown pass from Darnold to wide receiver Jaxson Smith-Njigba with 11 seconds left in the second quarter.

Myers ended that drive with a 41-yard field goal, and the Seahawks took a 9-0 halftime lead. It obviously could have been much worse, though, if not for Gonzalez's efforts.
