Super Bowl National Anthem 2026 Twitter Reaction to Charlie Puth's Performance

Sam Darnold and Drake Maye will soon have their moment in the spotlight during Sunday's Super Bowl LX between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

But it was Charlie Puth's turn first.

Puth sang the national anthem ahead of the highly anticipated contest as one of a number of musical performers scheduled to take part in the festivities with Green Day performing before the game, Brandi Carlile singing America the Beautiful, Coco Jones singing Lift Every Voice and Sing, and Bad Bunny performing at halftime.

The Super Bowl is America's biggest show every year, which means there was no shortage of reaction for even the national anthem:

Puth revealed in a November Instagram post that he would be singing the national anthem and wrote, "I can't believe I'm saying this. … I will be performing the National Anthem at Super Bowl LX."

He described the song as "one of the most beautiful pieces of music" in the video but also pointed out it is one of "the hardest to sing" thanks to the "extreme vocal range" needed.

Chris Phelan of NBC.com provided a quick career summary for Puth for football fans ahead of the Super Bowl and noted the multiple Grammy nominee has released three albums with a fourth on the way after first becoming a public figure by covering songs on YouTube.

"Many fans consider Puth's 'arrival moment' to be the release of Wiz Khalifa's See You Again—Puth is credited as a co-writer, producer, and singer on the track, which reached the #1 position on the Billboard Hot 100, a spot it held for a record-tying 12 weeks," Phelan wrote.

He released his debut studio album, Nine Track Mind, just two years later and then found himself on a track to Sunday's Super Bowl stage.
