Team Event Final Results

- Japan - 68
- Italy - 60

- Canada - 54
Ilia Malinin clinched the team event gold medal for Team USA with a free skate program that scored 200.03 points.
Malinin outscored Japan's Shun Sato in the men's free skate to give the Americans a one-point advantage in the final standings.
Team USA was up against it going into the men's free skate because Japan's Kaori Sakamoto took first in the women's free skate.
Sakamoto scored eight points higher than the next best competitor.
American Amber Glenn took a disappointing third place in the women's free skate. That result put the pressure on Malinin to finish first in the final discipline of the event .
The win gave the United States back-to-back golds in the team event, which debuted at the Winter Games in 2014.
It was the second gold of the Olympics, and from Sunday's events, for Team USA at the Milan Cortina Games.
Malinin and the ice dance pair of Madison Chock and Evan Bates are the favorites in their respective events.
