The men's team combined is a new addition to the alpine skiing program at the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Teams of two will complete in the combined, which features the downhill and slalom disciplines.

Team combined is a relatively new event on the alpine skiing circuit, so little is known about which teams may have the biggest advantage.

The team combined event only debuted at the senior level at the 2025 FIS World Championships.

Switzerland swept the medal podium at Saalbach in Austria. Men's downhill gold medalist Franjo von Allmen competing in the downhill for the winning Swiss team.

The teams are made up one of downhill specialist and one slalom specialist. Every participating country can field up to four teams in the event.

Switzerland will be the favorite to win if it puts its best downhill skiers into the competition. Von Allmen won the downhill race on Saturday, while Marco Odermatt and Alexis Monney took fourth and fifth.

The Italian pair of Giovanni Franzoni and Dominik Paris took second and third in the downhill. Only Paris competed in the team combined when it was held at the World Championships last year.

The United States has a chance to medal in team combined if it gets a good run on the downhill. Team USA finished fourth in the team combined at the 2025 World Championships with the pair of Ryan Cochran-Siegle and Benjamin Ritchie.

Norway could potentially be in the medal conversation as well. It has three of the top five slalom skiers in the World Cup standings.

Switzerland should be the favorite, though, because it can pair any of its great downhill racers with Loic Meillard, the 2025 FIS world champion in slalom.
