NFL Draft 2026 Scouting Report for Texas Tech WR Caleb Douglas

Damian ParsonFeb 9, 2026

Caleb Douglas is a perimeter receiver with a finesse style of route running and good size to occupy the perimeter receiver position in the NFL.

He is a first- and second-level route separator with a good feel for zones and spacing. The Red Raiders wideout tracks the ball well on the perimeter, too.

The 3-star recruit in the 2022 class spent two seasons with the Florida Gators, producing minimal results. He transferred to Texas Tech ahead of the 2024 season and became a steady producer ever since.

Football is in Douglas' bloodline. His father played quarterback at Vanderbilt and Texas Southern.

Dame Parson is the lead host of the Locked On NFL Draft podcast. He also serves as co-host of the Scouting Room NFL Podcast alongside Daniel Harms.

Where He Wins

1 of 4
2025 Edward Jones Big 12 Championship - BYU v Texas Tech

- Long strider with built-up speed. Eats up the cushion given by defensive backs.

- Has a quick snap/swivel on hitch, curl and comeback routes versus off-coverage.

- Good size and catch radius to live as a perimeter receiver. Possesses the physical ability to be QB-friendly, especially in the red zone.

- Patient and tempoed route-runner who doesn't rush his process. Freelances by using head fakes and hesitations to freeze cornerbacks and keep them off-balance.

Areas of Improvement

2 of 4
Texas Tech v Utah

- Not a natural hands-catcher. Catch technique results in drops and unreliability.

- Below-average first-step explosiveness and top-end speed, which could limit his ability to win vertically in the NFL.

- Lean frame with questionable play strength at the catch point. Does not convert or dominate in contested-catch situations.

- Physicality in the contact window at the line of scrimmage delays him from getting into his routes.
