Olympian Maddie Schizas Shares Photo of Email to Professor Asking for Extension on Assignment

Maddie Schizas came up with a great excuse for seeking an extension on an assignment in her sociology class.

The Canadian figure skater posted a photo of the email she sent to her professor asking for an extension because she is currently in Italy competing in the Olympics.

The 22-year-old is in her senior year at McMaster University, where she is two courses away from completing her degree in Environment & Society.

Schizas finished sixth in the ladies' singles qualifier in the figure skating team event on Friday, which was also the day her assignment was due. She earned five points for the Canadian team.

This is Schizas' second time competing in the Olympics, having made her debut four years ago in Beijing.
