USA, Canada and Olympic Hockey Saturday Group Results Ahead of Women's KO Bracket

The United States and Canada both produced shutout victories on Saturday at the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Team USA picked up its second win of the women's hockey tournament with a thumping of Finland.

Canada opened its quest for gold with a controlling win over Switzerland.

The scores were one-sided in Group B as well, as Sweden and Germany both triumphed by multiple goals.

The United States moved to 2-0 with a rout over Finland.

Hilary Knight scored her 14th Olympic goal, a tally that tied the most goals netted by an American woman at the Winter Olympics.

Alex Carpenter, Taylor Heise, Megan Keller and Abbey Murphy all scored as well for the Americans in the 5-0 victory.

Canada was equally as dominant in its 4-0 win over Switzerland.

The Canadians outshot Switzerland 54-6 in its vctory. Swiss goalie Saskia Maurer made 50 saves.

The first three of Canada's goals came on the play. Natalie Spooner, Sarah Fillier and Julia Gosling scored in 5-on-4 action. Daryl Watts added the fourth goal late in the third period.

Canada and the United States will be back in action on Monday. Czechia-Finland is the lone Group A game on the Sunday schedule.

Sweden 6, Italy 1

Germany and Sweden delivered blowout victories in Saturday's Group B contests.

Sweden, who beat Germany in its opener, put in six goals against host nation Italy.

Thea Johansson scored the last two goals for the Swedes. Four others found the back of the net, including three in the second period that opened up the game.

Italy only scored once, but that could be a big goal for tiebreakers. The top three teams from Group B advance to the knockout round. Italy is currently in third place over Japan.

Germany picked up a three-goal victory over Japan to tuck into second place behind Sweden in Group B.

The Germans scored three goals in the opening period. They added on two more in the second period before Japan rallied to score a pair late in the second.

Nicola Hadraschek netted a pair of goals for Germany, who is in a good position to qualify for the knockout round.

Germany finishes with France, the weakest team in Group B, and Italy.

Sweden gets its shot at France in Sunday's lone game inside Group B.
