Kirk Cousins 'Rejuvenated,' Talks NFL Future Amid Falcons Contract Rumors

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins discussed his NFL future as he prepares for his 15th season in the league.

"I would love to keep playing," Cousins said during a Friday appearance on GMFB:OT (h/t NFL.com's Jeremy Bergman). "I feel rejuvenated after playing last season, and I'm excited to see kind of where it can go from here."

The 37-year-old also talked about his uncertain outlook with the Falcons after both sides reportedly agreed to a contract restructure that modified the final two years of his deal on Jan. 6.

"Well, I've got a lot of reps," Cousins said Friday, via Bergman. "There's been a lot of years of one-year contracts, and what's going to happen next, and will you get traded? So I guess I've kind of lived it. I've learned to be pretty open-minded. And here we are again.

"You don't really know what's going to happen come March. I've learned that February is really quiet, which is really nice. You just kind of go away and disappear and go sit on a beach and then you know that March is coming."

Atlanta will likely release Cousins in March following his adjusted contract, according to Josh Kendall and Jeff Howe of The Athletic.

He opened the 2025 season as a depth option behind Michael Penix Jr., but eventually saw extended action after Penix suffered a season-ending torn ACL.

In 10 games, Cousins completed 61.7 percent of his throws for 1,721 yards and 10 touchdowns compared to five interceptions.

While Cousins' tenure with the Falcons could be coming to an end in the near future, he's still looking forward to playing in 2026.
