US Women's Figure Skating Olympics 2026 Odds, Anticipated Events and Favorites

Joe TanseyFeb 6, 2026

The women's figure skating competition is one of the highest-profile events at the Winter Olympics.

Legends from Kristi Yamaguchi to Tara Lipinski to Sarah Hughes and beyond made their names in the women's event.

Alysa Liu, Amber Glenn and Isabeau Levito will all try to etch their names in history during the women's competition on February 17 and 19.

Liu is the reigning world champion, Levito placed on the podium in 2024 and Glenn is the newly-crowned American champion.

Each of the three American women have a shot at winning gold, or at least placing on the medal podium, but none of them are favored to win. That title belongs to Japan's Kaori Sakamoto.

The American women have one other chance to win gold in the team event. Liu is confirmed to skate the women's short program in that event on Friday. A decision has not been made yet on which skater will compete in the free skate.

Kaori Sakamoto (+200; bet $100 to win $200)

Alysa Liu (+300)

Adeliia Petrosian (+350)

Amber Glenn (+600)

Mone Chiba (+1100)

Ami Nakai (+1400)

Isabeau Levito (+2500)

Liu, Glenn and Levito are all aiming to become the first American woman to claim gold in figure skating since Sarah Hughes in 2002.

Only Sasha Cohen in 2006 medaled for Team USA in the women's singles, an event the Americans used to dominate.

Liu comes into Milan as the reigning world champion. She beat out Sakamoto for gold last year in Boston.

Before that, Sakamoto won three straight golds at the World Championships. She is also a bronze medalist from the 2022 Games in Beijing.

Liu must replicate her form from last year in Boston to have a shot at taking down Sakamoto once again.

Levito took second at worlds in 2024 and then finished fourth in 2025. She is expected to be in the mix for a medal despite having high odds to win gold.

Glenn won the U.S. Figure Skating Championships three years in a row, but she has yet to finish on the podium at the World Championships.

The lack of podium finishes at the biggest yearly event is concerning, but Glenn proved a few times now at the U.S. championships that she has it in her to beat medal-quality skaters in Liu and Levito.

Multiple medals will be a real possibility for the American women, but to earn that, they have to outduel the Japanese contingent, led by Sakamoto.

Sakamoto and Mone Chiba finished second and third behind Liu at the 2025 World Championships. Sakamoto was within two points of Liu's final score.

Japan (+250)

Italy (+2000)

France (+8000)

Georgia (+10000)

Canada (+10000)

Team USA is the clear favorite to win the first figure skating gold of the Milan Olympics.

The team event is split up into eight skates between the men's, women's, pairs and ice dance disciplines.

Liu is booked for the women's short program on Friday morning. She is not required to also compete in the team event women's free skate on Sunday.

A decision has not been made yet whether to keep Liu in that spot, or to use Glenn or Levito in that discipline.

Either way, the United States should come home with gold. Top-ranked male Ilia Malinin and top-rated ice dance pair Madison Chock and Evan Bates are scheduled to compete in the team event.

Each skater that competes in the team event, whether it be in one or two events, earns a medal.
