Liverpool Transfer News: Alexandre Lacazette Told to Leave, Adama Traore Rumours

Rory MarsdenAug 4, 2015

Liverpool target Alexandre Lacazette has reportedly been told by Lyon that he should leave the club if he is unhappy.

The prolific striker has been linked with a move to numerous major clubs after his fantastic 2014-15 campaign in which he was the top scorer in Ligue 1 with 27 goals in 33 appearances, per WhoScored.com.

A move has not yet materialised. But Lacazette has now reportedly been given an ultimatum by Lyon manager Hubert Fournier after showing a poor attitude in pre-season: leave or sign a new contract, per L'Equipe (h/t Get French Football News).

This could open the door for Liverpool—or Arsenal—who have been linked with the French forward for much of the summer, per MailOnline's Alex Sharp.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas previously slapped a €50 million (£35 million) price tag on the 24-year-old Lacazette, per Canal+ (h/t Ian Holyman on ESPN FC).

That valuation could come down if Lacazette wants to leave, but Lyon are unlikely to let him go cheap considering his quality.

Thus, it is highly unlikely that the Reds will go in for Lacazette even if he wants to leave Lyon.

Brendan Rodgers has already spent big on adding Christian Benteke and Roberto Firmino to his attacking unit, and any movement of strikers is likely to be outgoing at Anfield in the remainder of the transfer window, per Bleacher Report's Andy Brassell:

Indeed, Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre recently ruled out any further moves in the transfer market this summer, per the Liverpool Echo's James Pearce:

That seemingly includes a widely-rumoured move for Barcelona youngster Adama Traore who is also unlikely to be making the switch to Anfield any time soon.

The 19-year-old Barca B star was previously heavily linked with a move to Liverpool, but apparently the Reds are not interested in the Spanish winger, despite the La Liga giants' willingness to sell him on—albeit with a buyback option included, per James Pearce in the Liverpool Echo.

Traore does look set for a move to the Premier League, though, and he has reportedly asked to miss training with Barcelona on Tuesday and Wednesday in order to travel to England to decide which club he will join, per the Mirror's Ed Malyon.

Sport Witness relayed Spanish outlet Marca's report that Aston Villa are leading the way in the race to sign the exciting youngster:

Liverpool seem settled with their attacking unit now, and they do certainly look to be in a better position than last term when Daniel Sturridge's injuries left them struggling for quality up front.

Rodgers has made some fine additions so far this summer and will be looking for his new-look side to make a fast start in their opening match of the Premier League season against Stoke City this weekend.
