NFL Draft 2026 Scouting Report for Iowa CB TJ Hall

Daniel HarmsFeb 12, 2026

TJ Hall brings the Hawkeye mentality to every rep. He's a physical boundary presence and an extremely versatile defender who doesn't miss tackles.

Hall is a clean technician who thrives at the catch point, using quick punches to dislodge the ball and rack up pass breakups. He feasibly could play both safety and cornerback in the NFL with his football IQ.

The 3-star recruit broke out as a true senior at Iowa with 47 tackles (30 solo), one interception and 10 passes defensed. While there isn't a long history of ball production for Hall, the strides he took as a senior to clean up his technique and attack the ball show great promise going forward.

Dan has covered the Kansas City Chiefs and the NFL Draft since 2019 while contributing for RGR Football. Most recently, he spent the 2025 draft cycle at The Draft Network and is entering his first season in our scouting department.

Where He Wins

1 of 4
COLLEGE FOOTBALL: NOV 23 Iowa at Maryland

— Comfortable in man or zone, but does his best work in zone, where he can recognize route concepts and trigger on break points. Plays with proper depth and spacing, closing when needed.

— Brings a physical presence to the boundary in press-man alignment with well-timed jabs to throw off timing. Matches hip transitions and physical press well to turn and run.

— Good athlete with the short-area footwork to compete in a phone booth and decelerate at the top of routes to stick in receivers' hip pockets.

— Football IQ and play recognition show up when he's triggering downhill in the run and screen game. Didn't miss a tackle in 2025.

Areas of Improvement

2 of 4
Iowa v Missouri - TransPerfect Music City Bowl

— Has a hitch in his lateral hop, allowing receivers to consistently stack him vertically. Lacks the recovery speed and burst to close the gap down the field.

— Carries his hands very low in press coverage, making it easier for receivers to release and time hand counters to jams. Needs to give receivers less time to prepare for his physicality.

— Overall ball skills and length make it challenging for him to create turnovers. Gets his hands on the ball well enough, but is a poor tracker and catcher of the football.
