NFL Draft 2026 Scouting Report for Cal CB Hezekiah Masses

Daniel HarmsFeb 12, 2026

Hezekiah Masses took a bump in competition and ran with it during his final year in college.

Masses was one of the most productive corners in the country while showcasing his scheme versatility. He boasts natural instincts to drop off his responsibility and undercut throws. He's a smooth backpedal defender who looks extremely comfortable on the vertical plane carrying receivers.

The 3-star recruit and FIU transfer put up some impressive ball production in his senior season with five interceptions and 13 passes defensed. It was easily his best collegiate season, and he's looking to use it as a springboard to the NFL as a zone multiple defender.

Dan has covered the Kansas City Chiefs and the NFL Draft since 2019 while contributing for RGR Football. Most recently, he spent the 2025 draft cycle at The Draft Network and is entering his first season in our scouting department.

Where He Wins

1 of 4
COLLEGE FOOTBALL: NOV 08 Cal at Louisville

— Undercuts routes when he has his eyes on the quarterback in zone. Route recognition and anticipation lead him downhill to the ball, regularly forcing breakups.

— Has great technique on the boundary, carrying vertical routes while using the sideline and his hands to guide receivers. Stays in the hip pocket and plays physically throughout the route.

— Quickly gets downhill, recognizes underneath plays, and plays with proper depth and timing to consistently trigger to the flat.

— Brings a special teams floor with him tied to a good work ethic that will see him fighting to earn NFL roles and reps.

Areas of Improvement

2 of 4
California v Stanford

— Opens the gate inside to outside releases quickly, along with ceding space outside by hopping toward the sideline in press coverage. Needs to trust his footwork and technique to be more patient against releases.

— Struggles to locate the ball down the field, which leads to grabby play and running through receivers. Needs to be better at playing the catch point and not panicking when he gets stacked vertically downfield.

— Has a thin frame and is a poor tackler. Will drop his head and go to the ankles when tackling.
