Olympic Figure Skating 2026 Medal Odds for Team USA and Top Countries

Joe TanseyFeb 4, 2026

Team USA comes into the 2026 Winter Olympics with a chance to medal in most of the figure skating events.

The Americans have the clear-cut favorite in the men's event in Ilia Malinin. The pair of Madison Chock and Evan Bates are expected to claim gold in the ice dance.

Team USA should replicate its gold-medal performance in the team event because of its depth.

A medal or two is expected out of the women's competition as well, but that event is more wide open for any three of the American skaters to claim a podium spot.

Men's Event

Ilia Malinin (-1400; bet $1,400 to win $100)

Yuma Kagiyama (+1000; bet $100 to win $1,000)

Adam Siao Him Fa (+2500)

Shun Sato (+3000)

Petr Gumennik (+3000)

Mikhail Shaidorov (+3000)

Ilia Malinin is one of Team USA's top gold-medal favorites.

Malinin dominated the men's figure skating circuit during this Olympic cycle. All that's left for him to win is the gold medal.

Malinin's score from short programs and free skates consistently blown away the rest of the competition at the World Championships and other marquee events.

Japan's Yuma Kagiyama is the only other male to reach the podium at each of the last two World Championships.

Kagiyama was the runner-up to Nathan Chen at the 2022 Beijing Olympics. He has five total silver medals from Olympic and World Championships competition.

Kagiyama should be considered a favorite to medal, but he'll need a perfect pair of routines and some mistakes by Malinin to claim gold.

Women's Event

Kaori Sakamoto (+200)

Alysa Liu (+300)

Adeliia Petrosian (+350)

Amber Glenn (+600)

Mone Chiba (+1100)

Ami Nakai (+1400)

The women's competition should be more wide open than the men's event.

American Alysa Liu is the reigning world champion, but she finished second to Amber Glenn at the U.S. Championships earlier this year.

Glenn won the last three U.S. Championships, but that hasn't translated to a ton of success at the world level.

Kaori Sakamoto of Japan is a three-time world champion and a bronze medalist from 2022.

Sakamoto is a more accomplished skater than both Liu and Glenn on the international stage. She should enter Milan with less pressure on her shoulders because she's already won an Olympic medal.

The other American in the women's event, Isabeau Levito, is a dark-horse to win, but she was a silver medalist at the World Championships in 2024.

Ice Dance

Madison Chock and Evan Bates (-155)

Laurence Fournier and Guillaume Cizeron (+140)

Piper Gillies and Paul Poirier (+1600)

Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson (+2000)

Madison Chock and Evan Bates won the last three World Championships in ice dance.

The American pair comes into Milan with the expectation to win gold to complete an already illustrious resume.

Chock and Bates already have Olympic golds from the 2022 team event victory by Team USA, but they don't have a medal in ice dance.

Their biggest threat is the French pair of Laurence Fournier and Guillaume Cizeron, the reigning European champion.

The Canadian duo of Piper Gillies and Paul Poirier came in second to Chock and Bates at the last two World Championships. They are considered to be one of the top medal contenders.

2026 United States Figure Skating Championships

United States (-500)

Japan (+200)

Italy (+2000)

France (+8000)

Georgia (+10000)

Canada (+10000)

The Americans are the clear favorite to come away with gold in the team event for the second straight Olympics.

If all of the top Americans participate in the event, which kicks off the figure skating program in Milan, Team USA should win by a good distance.

Team USA has the best male skater in the world, as well as the top ice dance duo. Any one of the three female skaters could produce a high score to boost the Americans' overall score.

Japan is the only other nation with a well-rounded set of skaters, but in this case, all of the other countries might be fighting for silver with the top-end talent Team USA possesses.
