Micah Parsons Discusses Relationship with Cowboys' Jerry Jones After Contract Talks, Trade
Micah Parsons said Tuesday that he's "sad" his relationship with Dallas Cowboys team owner Jerry Jones "went to s--t" before he was traded to the Green Bay Packers.
"I justĀ wish some of those thingsĀ never happened. You know what I mean?" he told Clarence Hill of All City DLLS Cowboys (h/t Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk). "I wish that he never brought me into the office and just let the agent speak. And I wish he hadn't compromised our relationship. I thought me and Jerry had a good relationship up to that point until this offseason, and it's sad that it went to shit like that."
Parsons added that he harbors "no bad blood" toward Jones, however.
"There's only two people who know the real truthāme and Jerry Jones," Parsons said about how the relationship deteriorated. "I'm not mad or anything. I went to another historic organization. I got paid a historic amount. So I got really nothing to be mad about in this world."
Per various reports, Jones thought he had a handshake deal in place after a private meeting with Parsonsāsuch handshake deals without an agent present are an old and arguably unethical negotiation ploy from Jonesāwhile Parsons wanted his agent looped back into the proceedings before signing anything. The relationship seemingly broke down from there.
But it appears that Parsons, channeling his inner Oasis, has no desire to look back in anger.
