Week One NFL Recap and Week Two Picks By NFL Mikee

Thomas MorelandSep 13, 2009

Luck jumped up and bit the Bengals right in the striped cats rear end, as the Bronco's escaped with 12-7 victory. It took a tipped pass for an 87 yard touchdown for Denver to win. Pure unadulterated luck.

Pittsburgh won a grueling physical game 13-10 against Tennessee 13-10 but paid the price, losing Troy Palamalu for 4-6 weeks with a strained knee.

Denver will be at home against Cleveland next week, and they sure didn't show much against the Bengals. Cleveland had a fair effort, but lost to Minnesota last week, so this is a tough pick, I will go against my better judgement and take the Browns in Mile High Stadium because they showed more offense last week.

The Steelers go on the road against Chicago, and I will take the world champions to win this game, with a strong run defense against Matt Forte. Jay Cutler is the unknown factor however, and he could very well light up the Steelers pass defense, especially missing Palamalu.

Minnesota and the road show of Brett Favre and Adrian Peterson travel to Detriot to give the Lions another loss, after Drew Brees lit them up for six touchdowns last week.

Carolina travels to the Hotlanta area to take on the Falcons. Who in their right mind, would take Carolina, after last week, with Atlanta beating up on the Dolphins, while Carolina had a miserable time against the Eagles. Atlanta will win this game at home.

New Orleans travels north to take on the Eagles in Philadelphia in week two. This is a tough one to pick. I will not ......    take the Eagles at home.  McNabb has a fractured rib and I have to pick New Orleans.

Houston travels to Tennessee, and Tennessee should win this game with tough defense. I thought Houston would be stronger this season, but I'm having my doubts after that miserable effort against a rookie quarterback last week. My hats off to Mark Sanchez in an impressive debut beating Houston at game convincingly.

New England travele to New York, and although I will take the Patriots to win, I will pay careful attention to the point spread in this game, in my pick against the spread article, later in the week.

Oakland travels to Kansas City and the Chiefs did not look bad last week. They did lose to Baltimore by more than the spread, but it happened  very late after they were tied at 24-24. I like Kansas City in a typical win by three game against the Raiders.

Cincinnati goes to Green Bay and after last week, I have to take the Packers at home. The Bengals have some bad karma going.

Jacksonville is at home against Arizona, and I don't think they have enough offensive firepower to stay with Kurt Warner and company. Arizona to score around 27 points which should be enough to win.

Tampa Bay travels to Buffalo, and this is a game with both teams that will contend for the bottom of their respective divisions. I will take the home team in this game, but it should be a close one.

The Rams travel to Washington, and the Redskins should be motivated to win this game in a revenge mode after the Rams started their down hill slide , beating them last season in Washington. I will take Washington to get the victory.

The San Francisco Forty-Niners are at home against the Seahawks, and have to start playing to Mike Singletary's expectations this season. This should be a close game also, but I will take the Niners at home.

San Diego is at home against the Ravens, and this should be a good game also. San Diego has a lot of talent, and I think they will not struggle as much as last season. I will take the west coast team in this one as well.

The Giants travel to the new house that Jerry built to take on the Cowboys. Tony Romo always starts off hot early in the season, and has some confidence going with Roy Williams, Whidden, and company. I like Dallas at home.

Indianapolis is on the road against the Dolphins, who had a bad start against Atlanta last week.  I think the Dolphins can bounce back however, and play well enough to beat the Colts in week two.

There you have it, and enjoy a great Monday night of football to start the season. Some games are still going on at presstime here, but so far I am with the Giants leading in thier game, 11-5 straight up. and also 7-9 against the spread.

New England and San Diego should win on Monday, so I'm just keeping on eye on Seattle and the Rams, the two worst teams last year, but Seattle leads 21-0  . Arizona is  having a slow start against the Niners.

However, Seattle should win at home, and they did, but the Cardinals fell to the upstart Forty Niners .

Green Bay plays Chicago on 8 pm Sunday night, and that is a loss for the Bears.

I need a win by San Diego and New England to get to 11-5 which should be feasible, and with two covers, maybe  9-7 against the points.

Good luck to all your teams.
