Press Taylor Reportedly Named Bears' OC, What to Know About New OC for Caleb Williams, Ben Johnson

The Chicago Bears reportedly promoted passing game coordinator Press Taylor to offensive coordinator on Sunday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Taylor was the Jacksonville Jaguars' offensive coordinator from 2022-24. The team finished 10th in both yards and points in his first season before tailing off. The Jags were a bottom-10 offensive unit in 2024, and he was shown the door with coach Doug Pederson's ouster.

Taylor joined Chicago's staff ahead of the 2025 season.

While his work in Jacksonville might lead Bears fans to be a little lukewarm about his promotion, coach Ben Johnson clearly valued his input over this past year. The progress made by quarterback Caleb Williams likely played a role as well.

Sunday's news comes after Rapoport previously reported that Arizona Cardinals passing game coordinator Connor Senger was eyed for the role. The Bears were on the search for a new offensive coordinator after Declan Doyle left to take the same role with the Baltimore Ravens.

Senger reportedly received interest from the Buffalo Bills and Green Bay Packers to be their quarterbacks coach.

Doyle made a lateral move when he went to Baltimore, but one season in the Windy City was enough to earn him play-calling duties with the Ravens. The 29-year-old is the youngest in the NFL with that distinction.

Williams made positive strides in his second year with Doyle as the OC. He threw for 3,942 yards, 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Were that trend to continue in 2026, Taylor's stock will start to rebound after his forgettable Jags tenure.
