Deontay Wilder Says Tyson Fury 'Cheated' in 2 of Their Fights, 'Biggest Cheater in Boxing History'

Doric SamFeb 3, 2026

Former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder is understandably still not pleased with how his trilogy against Tyson Fury played out, and he levied a major accusation against the Brit.

While speaking on Ring Magazine's Mr Verzace Podcast, Wilder claimed that Fury cheated in two of their fights.

"He didn't win nothing, they gave it to him. I can't think about the third one, but the two of them, he definitely cheated," Wilder said at the 25:45 mark. "I got proof and evidence of that. When I do my documentary and my movie about it, it's gonna be presented. ... The man cheated, he's the biggest cheater in boxing history. If you look him up, you'll see it."

Wilder was undefeated with a 40-0 record when he met Fury in the ring for the first time in Dec. 2018. The fight memorably appeared to come to an end when Wilder scored a massive knockdown in the 12th round, but Fury miraculously beat the 10-count and survived to the final bell. The judges scored it a split-decision draw, allowing Wilder to retain his WBC title at the time.

The next two meetings against Fury didn't go Wilder's way. He lost his WBC title in their second fight in February 2020 with a seventh-round TKO, and he suffered an 11th-round knockout in their trilogy bout in October 2021.

Following his back-to-back losses to Fury, Wilder has fought four times and went 2-2, most recently defeating Tyrrell Anthony Herndon by seventh-round TKO last June. He's set to face Derek Chisora at the O2 Arena in London on April 4.

Fury has retired from boxing multiple times, but it was announced last month that he's returning to face Arslanbek Makhmudov in the United Kingdom on April 11.

Only time will tell if Wilder's cheating accusations against Fury will be proven true. Until then, both veteran boxers will focus on their preparations for their respective April fights.
