Tom Brady Questioned on Klint Kubiak, Fernando Mendoza amid Raiders Rumors Ahead of Super Bowl 60

Doric SamFeb 3, 2026

The Las Vegas Raiders are expected to hire Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak as their next head coach and select Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza with the No. 1 pick in the 2026 draft.

During this week's episode of the Let's Go! podcast, Raiders minority owner Tom Brady dished on both Kubiak and Mendoza, though he had to be careful with what he said since neither of them has officially arrived in Las Vegas.

Brady said around the 10:20 mark that he feels Kubiak has "done a great job this season developing his own identity as a play-caller" before adding at the 17:45 mark that Mendoza is "an impressive young man."

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Sunday that the Raiders are expected to hire Kubiak as their next head coach after firing Pete Carroll following their 3-14 finish to the 2025 season. The hiring won't be official until after Super Bowl 60 on Sunday when the Seahawks face the New England Patriots, and Kubiak made it clear that he's focused on the Big Game.

"I can just tell you I'm all-in on the Seahawks, I'm all-in on this game," Kubiak said during Super Bowl Opening Night, "and whatever comes next, we'll deal with that on Monday."

Brady, who helped lead Las Vegas' search for a new head coach alongside general manager John Spytek, went on to praise Kubiak's ability to bring out the best in Seattle's offensive core led by quarterback Sam Darnold. In the NFC Championship Game against the Los Angeles Rams, Darnold threw for 346 yards and three touchdowns in a stellar performance.

"Klint has played to the strengths of that team, and last week's game, I thought he did a lot of great things against a very talented Rams defense," Brady said. "That's what it took for them to win, I thought the Rams were a terrific team. That was a 50/50 game last week, I thought, in Seattle... It took a great Seattle effort in all three phases of the game to get the win, and that's what it's gonna take here in Santa Clara this weekend."

The Raiders are universally expected to use the No. 1 pick in April's draft to select Mendoza, who won the Heisman Trophy and is the only quarterback projected to be off the board in the first round. Brady explained that he only watched Mendoza's performance in Indiana's national championship win over Miami, but he's excited about the intangibles that the young signal-caller could bring to Las Vegas.

"What do I really value? When I see him and he talks about his teammates. When he wins the Heisman Trophy and he's praising everybody else," Brady said. "That's an endearing quality for a great leader."

It sounds like Brady feels the future is bright for the Raiders amid the impending arrivals of Kubiak and Mendoza.
