Justin Fields Reportedly Declined Pro Bowl Games Invite as Shedeur, Flacco, Burrow Represent AFC

Andrew PetersFeb 2, 2026

A surprising name reportedly declined an invite to this year's Pro Bowl.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, New York Jets quarterback Justin Fields was invited to the Pro Bowl but opted not to play in the game and instead focus on offseason training.

Fields' Pro Bowl invitation comes after a season in which he played just nine games, throwing for 1,259 yards, seven touchdowns and an interception along with 383 rushing yards and four touchdowns. The Jets went 2-7 with Fields under center.

While that isn't exactly a Pro Bowl-caliber season, there weren't many quarterbacks interested or available to play in this year's Pro Bowl. After all, three quarterbacks that will represent the AFC will be the Cleveland Browns' Shedeur Sanders and the Cincinnati Bengals' Joe Burrow and Joe Flacco.

Sanders played just eight games this year, throwing for 1,400 yards, seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Flacco played in 13 games total between the Browns and Bengals, collecting 2,479 yards, 15 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Burrow appeared in the final eight games of the year and recorded 1,809 yards, 17 touchdowns and five interceptions.

Buffalo Bills' Josh Allen, Los Angeles Chargers' Justin Herbert and the Super Bowl-bound Drake Maye of the New England Patriots were the original selections for the Pro Bowl.

The NFC will be a little better represented, as Philadelphia Eagles' Jalen Hurts, Detroit Lions' Jared Goff and Dallas Cowboys' Dak Prescott will play in this year's game.

Fields, who could be on his way out of New York this offseason, is hoping to come back strong in 2026 after a bit of a down year. He'll focus on getting better this week rather than competing in the Pro Bowl.
