'F--k the Outside,' Bills GM Brandon Beane Dismisses Criticism of Joe Brady Hire

Scott PolacekFeb 2, 2026

Brandon Beane is aware many Buffalo Bills fans didn't love the plan to hire Joe Brady as the team's new head coach.

He just doesn't care.

"F--k the outside," the Bills general manager told Tyler Dunne of Go Long when discussing public perception of the hire. "It's about the right selection for this team. And if we win, they'll love it. It's the same thing I said when I took Josh Allen. If I'm wrong, the moving company will be at my house.

"So, I understand. And I'm not going to have regret of choosing someone to appease the outside if I thought it should have been something different. If I'm wrong, I'll f--king take my job and f--king go home."

Dunne noted the comment was in response to a fan poll of Buffalo fans that said eight percent approved the hire to replace the fired Sean McDermott.

"I don't want to be wrong—see him go somewhere else—when my gut told me it was Joe Brady," Beane said. "I'm never going to do that."

One thing is for sure. Fans can't accuse Beane of being on the fence about the team's new hire.

He clearly believes in the new head coach, which maybe shouldn't be surprising considering the Bills finished the 2025 campaign fourth in the league in points and yardage when Brady was the offensive coordinator.

Brady has been with the organization since the 2022 campaign and has worked closely with Allen, so there should be plenty of continuity in the offense even after the Bills moved on from McDermott.

And it will be Super Bowl or bust once again with one of the best players in the league under center, even after Buffalo fell short of reaching that stage in eight playoff appearances under McDermott.

That is plenty of pressure on Brady with the backdrop of some serious consternation about his hire among the fanbase.

But he will also be a hero if he makes good on Beane's belief and leads the Bills to their long-awaited Lombardi Trophy.
