Gus Bradley, Titans Reportedly Agree to DC Contract After Following Robert Saleh from 49ers

The Tennessee Titans reportedly have found their new defensive coordinator.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Titans are hiring San Francisco 49ers assistant head coach Gus Bradley to join Robert Saleh's staff. Albert Breer of the MMQB also reported the news.

Saleh told reporters after being hired that he plans to retain defensive play-calling duties.

Bradley spent the first part of his career at FCS powerhouse North Dakota State, serving as the defensive coordinator from 1996 to 2002 and the assistant head coach from 2003 to 2005.

He then made the jump to the NFL, taking over as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' linebackers coach. From 2009 to 2012, he was the Seattle Seahawks' defensive coordinator, and he was the Jacksonville Jaguars head coach from 2013 to 2016.

His time with the Jaguars, which was his only stint as a head coach, wasn't very successful as he went 14-48 and missed the postseason every year. Following his firing in 2016, he served as the defensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Chargers, Las Vegas Raiders and Indianapolis Colts. The Colts fired him following the 2024 season, which led him to his position with the Niners.

Saleh and Bradley have teamed up multiple times throughout their careers. They worked together in Seattle and Bradley hired Saleh to his staff in Jacksonville from 2014 to 2016. After nearly a decade apart, the two were on the same staff in San Francisco during the 2025 campaign.

Now together in Tennessee, Saleh and Bradley will look to turn things around after a rough year for the Titans on both sides of the ball.
