Tommaso Ciampa Reacts to Winning AEW TNT Title in Debut Match vs. Mark Briscoe on AEW Collision
After defeating Mark Briscoe to win the AEW TNT Championship in his debut match on AEW Collision on Saturday, Tommaso Ciampa made it clear that he's happy with his new home.
"I have been told for a very long time, AEW is where the best professional wrestlers in the world wrestle," Ciampa said in a backstage interview. "Well, the 'Psycho Killer' has been here for less than one week, and I am your TNT Champion. How about them apples?!"
Ciampa debuted in AEW this week after parting ways with WWE following the expiration of his contract. He praised the AEW fans for being so welcoming after he spent a decade in his previous company.
"None of this happens without my family by my side. This entire thing, this decision, this was a family decision. I'm gonna tell you, ever since I stepped foot in AEW, the people out there, they have welcomed me as part of their family," he said.
Ciampa and Briscoe shared some history from their time together in Ring of Honor, and Ciampa proved on Saturday that he can still hang with the best.
With the TNT Championship around his waste, Ciampa is staring at a slate of fresh matchups against AEW Superstars who will want to challenge for his title. Fans will certainly be excited to see how his championship run takes shape over the next few weeks.
