SNL Spoofs Winter Olympics in New Video Ahead of 2026 Milano Cortina Games
Anybody who specializes in the luge may want to avoid the newest episode of Saturday Night Live.
The SNL writers parodied a 2026 Winter Olympics promo and anchored the sketch around fictional luger "Gertie Burper," who's portrayed by Jane Wickline.
"I hate the luge. It's way too fast," Burper said. "It scares me to death, and I seriously hate it. ...This is a nightmare. I hate the thing I'm good at."
The fake promo also referenced the longstanding joke that luge doesn't look all that difficult to the untrained eye.
"In luge, being the best is sort of just a height and weight distribution thing," Burper said. "I honestly think a corpse that's my same shape could win."
Alexander Skarsgård, who plays Burper's coach, quips later on that she's a "once-in-a-generation... shape."
Training sessions for the luge will get underway on Wednesday, two days before the Milano Cortina Games formally open. The first medals will be handed out in men's singles on Feb. 8.
