Super Bowl 60 Pick
3 of 3.jpg)
The Seattle Seahawks look vastly superior to the New England Patriots ahead of the Super Bowl. They are the most well-rounded squad in the NFL this season. Quarterback Sam Darnold is fresh off arguably the best game of his career, and the defense is as good as anything the Patriots' offense has faced this year.
Throw in a special teams unit that is explosive with Rashid Shaheed returning kicks and you have an uphill battle that New England may not be prepared to tackle.
Except, the team has found ways to win all year, even when it was not pretty or did not encourage a ton of excitement. Look no further than a first-down run by second-year quarterback Drake Maye to seal the win in the AFC Championship. Overlooked, probably disrespected amid all of the discussion about their schedule, the team has risen to the moment and performed accordingly all season.
The outcome of the Super Bowl match-up will likely be determined by the defense.
Sean McVay and the Los Angeles Rams gave the Patriots a blueprint for scoring against the Seahawks. Despite Seattle limiting San Francisco to nine points in consecutive games, the Seahawks defense is susceptible to the pass and can be run on.
New England's defense is also formidable, confusing opponents with unique looks and schemes that have not previously been committed to tape. That does not bode well for Darnold, who can wow fans with explosive throws but will also turn the ball over when pressured or confused.
While the name of the game in 2026 is offense, defense still wins championships. New England's is the better unit at this point in time.
Prediction: Patriots 17, Seahawks 13
