Arsenal Transfer News: Latest on Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Chuba Akpom Rumours

Mercurial striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic could be on his way to the Premier League, with Arsenal said to be interested in the Paris Saint-Germain player.

Bruce Archer of the Express quotes the Swede throwing his future into doubt—after his fine performance in the French Super Cup on Saturday—saying: "It could be that this was my last game for PSG. Next week I will take a decision over my future."

Ibra starred as PSG dismantled Lyon 2-0, with the attacker running the show as he dropped off the defence.

Zlatan is yet to ply his trade in English football after spells in Sweden, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain and France. Arsenal have space at the point of their attack for a world-class player, and Ibrahimovic would be perfectly suited to play ahead of the Gunners' dazzling midfield. 

The player has won Ligue 1's Player of the Year award for the past two seasons, and he was once again in tremendous goalscoring form last term. 

Ibra hit 19 goals and provided six assists in 24 Ligue 1 appearances, per WhoScored.com, forcing Edinson Cavani to play a wider berth while he dominated the striker's role.

However, ESPNFC.com's David Amoyal thinks the attacker might see out the final year of his contract at PSG and follow the exodus of mature footballers to the MLS, with the Americans offering Europe's elite one last big payday:

Next summer, as a 34-year-old free agent, a move to MLS is a distinct possibility. Ibrahimovic has seen Kaka and Andrea Pirlo swap sides of the Atlantic and the Swede fits the profile of the type of player MLS is seeking.

That seems the likeliest scenario right now especially as, currently, clubs like Milan, Roma and Galatasaray would have a hard time coming close to matching his current wages. That PSG could be a legitimate contender to win the Champions League is also likely to keep him in Paris.

But a move to London would surely be an attractive one, with Ibra previously experiencing the cosmopolitan culture in Amsterdam, Turin, Milan, Barcelona—and now Paris.

He has always played for a big-city club, and this could give Arsene Wenger the advantage if the player goes to the transfer market in the coming days. 

Akpom to Gain Experience at Hull

Highly rated teenager Chuba Akpom is in line to leave Arsenal in a surprise loan move to Championship side Hull City.

Sky Sports report the attacker is due to have a medical at the KC Stadium on Monday before agreeing to a season-long loan with Steve Bruce's outfit. 

The move has shocked many, who believed Akpom would play a role for the Gunners this season after being in prolific goalscoring form during pre-season. 

BBC Sport's David Ornstein highlighted that Wenger had previously declared he would not allow the player to leave this summer:

Ibrahimovic would be a sensational signing for the Gunners, and he would get the hearts racing of Arsenal fans across the planet—much like the captures of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil did.

With the addition of Petr Cech, if Wenger can find an alpha male to lead his attack, the north London team will have a realistic chance of title glory. 

They do not come much better than Zlatan, and even at 33 years old, he is one of the best on the planet. Not only does he entertain the masses, but he is a predator.

The likes of Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck cannot be considered in his class bracket, and he would bring a confidence to the Gunners team not seen since Thierry Henry's departure.
