Seahawks vs. Patriots Preview

On paper, Super Bowl LX has the look of a one-sided affair.

The Seahawks have been among the best, most dominant teams in the NFL this season, doing just about everything well. The offense came alive against the Rams in the NFC Championship game, the defense limited the creative offense of Kyle Shanahan and the San Francisco 49ers to just nine total points, and the special teams is a threat to score any time Rashid Shaheed touches the ball.

The Patriots, though, have listened to critics all season criticize their strength of schedule, the quarterbacks they played down the stretch, and the circumstances they faced in the postseason (most notably, Denver quarterback Bo Nix missing the AFC title game).

Still, despite it, they have continued to find ways to win, confusing opposing quarterbacks on defense and getting one or two plays out of second-year quarterback Drake Maye when it matters most to put games away.

Head coach Mike Vrabel and defense coordinator Terrell Williams will have an extra week to plan for the Seahawks offense and devise a scheme that confuses Darnold into making the big mistakes that have plagued him at times in his career.

If the AFC representatives can fluster the former No. 3 overall pick in the NFL Draft and force at least two turnovers, the Patriots have a real shot at claiming the franchise's seventh Super Bowl title.

Chargers players admitted to Pats linebacker Robert Spillane after the Wild Card round that they did not know what the AFC East champions were doing on defense. If the Seahawks feel the same, it will be a long night for the NFC champs.

On the other hand, if Darnold can stare down pressure like he did against the Rams, and still get the ball off to tight ends and running backs who can extend drives and frustrate the defense, the Seahawks could take home their second Super Bowl title.
