
Paige Bueckers, Breeze Lose to Phantom as Unrivaled Sets All-Time Attendance Record for Pro WBB Game
A valiant comeback effort from Paige Bueckers' Breeze squad fell just short en route to a 71-68 loss to Phantom in Unrivaled action on Friday.
A total of 21,490 fans set an all-time attendance record for (a) any professional women's basketball game and (b) for any event in the history of Philadelphia's Xfinity Mobile Arena history, per ESPN's Alexa Philippou.
As for the game, Breeze fell behind 62-53 early in the fourth quarter, with an Elam Ending target score of 71 points set.
However, Bueckers (23 points) and Rickea Jackson (20 points) led a furious 11-2 run to tie the game at 64. Kelsey Plum gave Phantom a 66-64 lead, but Dominique Malonga got a bucket back for a 66-all tie.
Aliyah Boston responded with a massive three-point bucket for a 69-66 Phantom lead before Bueckers got two back.
However, the Breeze hit the offensive boards with two clutch rebounds on their next possession before Plum made sure the third time was the charm, hitting a game-winning finger roll for the 71-68 win.
Elsewhere in the box score, Bueckers shot 9-of-13 with six assists. Cameron Brink added 13 points, nine boards and two blocks for Breeze.
Plum's 22 points led Phantom, which also got 18 points, eight boards and two blocks from Boston.
Both teams are playing next on Sunday in Miami. Phantom (4-4) will play Lunar Owls (1-6). Breeze (5-3) will face Rose (4-3).
